Creativity down to the very last movie creditAn original idea, from Dusan Sekulovic, to complete his film "Pussyfoot" without giving up creative control.
Ideas are not enough. You need determination to see them through.
Dusan Sekulovic has put his body and soul into his first full-length feature film as screenwriter, director and actor. He works 24/7 to pay for the production costs and finish his film without having to give up his creative independence. But to complete his work he has chosen to ask people for support and has found a truly original way to go about asking: through the website www.pussyfootmovie.com he is selling film credits. You can, therefore, see your name or the name of your company on the big screen wherever and whenever the film is screened. ![]() Dusan was born in Yugoslavia and lives in New York where he earns his keep working for a prestigious Italian strategic marketing and communications firm, among several languages he is fluent in Italian. Q: How did you come up with the idea to sell movie credits? A: One day I heard about Alex Tew, the guy who created the Million Dollar Home Page (www.milliondollarhomepage.com) to finance his university tuition. I thought it was a great idea. My friend Frederick, though, said, ”it’s a good idea, but it’s too late, you should have thought of it before.” When I here someone tell me that it’s too late to do something and that it can’t be done, out comes my tenacity and I instinctively accept the challenge and say to myself, “Why not?! Anything is possible, you just have to find the way.” Q: How will you create added value? A: Everyone who contributes to the movie by purchasing a movie credit will be able to see their name on the website as a patchwork of names, big and small (depending on the size of the contribution) and there will be a countdown meter to show how far along I am to reaching my goal of $100,000. This allows everyone to see how much money has been raised so far and how much is still needed to reach my goal. It’s a fun way to immediately thank those who contribute. Also as the credits are rolling, which will include the ones from contributors, there will be cut scenes, bloopers and behind the scenes footage. This will keep the audience entertained and watching all the credits. Q: Why should people buy your movie’s credits? A: Rumor has it that you need a lot of money to produce a movie. This is true, but it does not mean that you need to become a charity case for the big studios, accept compromises and finish with a three-legged camel. I don’t need them - the big studios - I prefer that the audience decide! Instead of having the big studios dictate what you want to see - and obviously they don’t know - just take a look at dross out there - the audience will decide if my movie is likable or not. If it is interesting, then they will help me and everyone will be able to enjoy Pussyfoot on the big screen. I am selling different size movie credits from very small to extra-large. It is a good way to garner awareness for the movie, gather the necessary funds to complete the editing and post production and to tell the big studios to go ride their three-legged camels. I like the fact that people can go online, visit www.pussyfootmovie.com and decide: if they want to be a part of it they can buy a movie credit, otherwise they can have fun playing with my mustache on the homepage... that you can do for free! ![]() Q: Pussyfoot? A: I wrote Pussyfoot for three reasons: 1. I did not want it to be expensive. 2. New York. 3. I don’t remember the third reason. It talks about a young immigrant who is living the American dream, but not that grandiose dream that comes to mind. The dream is to find his own way: there is that moment in life when each of us realizes that we are no longer babies or kids, but adults. It’s scary and very sudden. Q: What are your plans for distributing the movie? I have already met several interested parties. But signing an agreement now I would have to give up creative control. The movie is almost finished. It would be a real shame to lose control now, I am so close and I want to finish it my way. I don’t need that much money to finish. With my online fund drive, selling movie credits, I can complete the movie independently and already start promoting it. I just setup the site a week ago so we will see how it goes. Note:
